Will it be Ted, due to his past with the bride? The following footage sure hints at that possibility, though Lily is fortunately there to swoop in and lay some smack down.

Fearing the flame would go out on their sex life once married, Barney and Robin searched for one last place to let their freak flag fly on How I Met Your Mother this week.

But standing in their way was a shuttle bus-load of elderly relatives. There was a lot of talk  about family on "Last Time in New York," but no one showed the lengths one will go to for a loved one like James did when he sacrificed himself and engaged his relatives.

Ted's To-Do List

Barney: You avoiding the family too?
James: I'm gay, I'm black and I'm getting a divorce. Those walking skeletons are gonna have more questions for me than their pharmacists. | permalink

R-Train and B-Nasty we great together as they debated possible places to sneak off to that wouldn't attract old people.  Seeing their interaction left little doubt that these two are a great match. There probably isn't much those two have not seen or tried in the bedroom, but even they shuddered after walking in on Robin's grandparents.

Robin: I can't believe my great grandparents still do that
Barney: And I never imagined a walker being used for anything other than walking. | permalink

Speaking of couples who have stood the test of time, Marshall and Lily spent another episode apart. Helping me get past this was the scene where Marshal, dressed in his Viking jersey, screamed out the truck window while driving through the home state of the rival Green Bay Packers.

I love The Princess Bride as much as anyone, but the episode cut a bit too much from reality, as the famous duel between Inigo Montoya and the Man in Black was acted out. Robin is a huge Scotch drinker, she would never try to pass that concoction off to Ted and the guys. The part where she actually poured herself a glass from the broken bottle was more appropriate. On the other side, Marshall and Ted didn't even try to fix the dress or devise a better story than passing it off on the dry cleaners.

Ted's list of last things to do was a great opportunity for some memorable flashbacks, but what we got was rather flat and forgettable. Linus must have been pouring Lily some weaker drinks because she was wise as ever while giving Ted one last life lesson. Of course, the tender sentiment she created was quickly shattered as was the new bottle of Scotch as Barney announced that he had seen Ted and Robin at the carousel.

Barney seems to be in such a good place right now, though, that I don't foresee him being too angry. I do think that we could be in for one last Barney prank before the big day. Let's hope so at least. What do you think?

How I Met Your Mother Review: Accept the Comfort

With just two days until the wedding, Ted found himself in an awkward position, as he tried to explain to Barney why he was seen holding Robin's hand back at the carousel. Despite the tense air surrounding the two long time friends, "The Broken Code" delivered the best How I Met Your Mother episode of the season.

Barney and Ted shared a good cry over the broken bottle of scotch, yet behind those tears lay Barney's bubbled resentment. If it wasn't clear how Barney was feeling after the first time he asked Ted to redo the table cards, it should have been pretty obvious after the second and third requests. Barney's "hey buddy" was reminiscent of Bill Lumbergh's "Hey Peter what's happening" from Office Space. The parallel was furthered when Barney asked Ted to give up his room for the folding cot in the basement. A move which brought to mind Milton Waddams being asked to move his desk down to the storage room.

Robin Issues

Ted wasn't about to take his stapler and go home, though, as he continued to cater to Barney's every whim, no doubt out of guilt for his actions and not just to be a great Best Man. When Ted walked in on the poker game to find he had been replaced by Billy Zabka, the jig was up.

Ted: Billy Zabka's your new best man?
Barney: He's the best, around. Sorry Ted, maybe next wedding. | permalink

Ted: So, you are mad about me and Robin holding hands.
Barney: Of course I'm mad Ted. Holding hands is like the fourth grade equivalent of banging. Well in your case, twelfth grade. Self five! | permalink

Enter the honorable Marshall Eriksen, or Marsh-pillow 2.0. Marshall weighed in remotely with his bro-pinion as to whether or not The Bro Code had been broken by Ted. Marshall's wifi wisdom was spot on as it pertained to the sacred text, the history of which was made even more epic by the latest installment, in a long line of hilarious fake history lessons from Barney.

While the men held court and hands on the beach, Lily challenged Robin to explain her inability to befriend other women. I'm not sure why Lily was so mystified by Robin's lack of female friends, especially since she is well aware of how Robin was raised. Regardless, her attempt to find a woman in the hotel bar for Robin to try and talk to was my favorite scene of the episode.

Lily: Prove to me you can make a female friend. What about her?
Robin: Ugh the girl with the bangs? Any chick who does that to her hair is going through a big life transition I don't want to hear about. Next time grow your bangs long enough to cover your mouth. I'll pass.
Lily: Ok well what about her?
Robin: Ugh, comfortable shoes? What are you filibustering later? It's after five, put on some heels. I'll pass. | permalink

Further proof of how good an episode we were treated to was how guest stars Tim Gunn and Bill Zabka just blended into the progression of scenes. Their performances weren't particularly memorable or flawed, but more importantly they weren't a distraction from the main issues at hand.

There were a few notable moments mixed in with the two major story lines though that I loved:

  • Marshall noting how Ted didn't go to his prom, "classic."
  • Barney referencing Joe Esposito's hit "You're the Best Around."
  • Ranjit telling Marshall, "You're bluffing robot man."

While I can't wait for the wedding day to arrive, if waiting a couple more weeks means more episodes like this one, I won't be too upset. What did you think?

How I Met Your Mother Review: Family Pot

It has been a week since How I Met Your Mother fans watched Barney and Ted measure each other up against the Bro Code's standards of friendship.

At the onset of this week's episode, we were still 48 hours away from the wedding. If I'm not mistaken, that would mean only three hours elapsed from the start of last week's installment to this one. In terms of the show's timeline, it hasn't been too long since Lily met the mother on the train, but "The Poker Game" marked the second episode in a row in which we were denied any further glimpses of Ted's future bride.

Barney's Dilemma

Sadly, what we got was a piecemeal flashback story involving Ted and Marshall and yet another crisis of confidence between Barney and Robin just days before their big ceremony.

Are we really supposed to believe both Ted and Marshall have harbored resentment toward each other for something which dates back to Marshall's wedding and neither of them knew about it? Marshall needs to jump in Doc Brown's DeLorean and get to this wedding yesterday because the whole road trip scenario is played out.

At the poker table, Lily made her stink face at Ted, but my brow was furrowed as I wondered where Linus had gone to with Lily's never ending supply of drinks. Was it his day off? Marshall's road trip still has gas in the tank, but Lily can't get a drink? Come on.

I did like how Robin finally put her foot down and called out James for crapping all over the wedding. The all-in push with the ring kicker was a nice move. Her point to Barney about him having her back was legit, but what didn't gel was Barney's sudden loyalty to his family. For most of the show's run, we rarely see much of either James or Loretta, but now on his wedding weekend, Barney is conflicted about choosing sides? If Barney was THAT close with James, he would have had some clue that his marriage was on the rocks.

I did like how Robin didn't back down one bit in the final scene, when she tried to return Loretta's blouse.

Loretta Stinson: You won the battle, but I'll win the war.
Robin: Game on bitch! | permalink

The conflict between the two, though, could have easily been avoided had Barney not gone so overboard when showing Robin just how much he had her back. Although I did love how he punctuated the scene by smashing the vase on the floor in front of James and his mother.

Hopefully the show can sweep up the pieces from this week and put together a strong follow up episode.

On How I Met Your Mother this week, Robin and Barney hit yet another speed bump on the road to marital bliss, getting caught in a lie along the way.

The Maid of Honor will often give the bride something borrowed and something new, but Lily was none too pleased to learn she and Marshall's story of how they met was stolen by Robin and Barney. Ted also paid for a bad choice when he jumped the gun and went for Anna Camp's character of Cassie.

Marshall then rounded out the trio of story lines still on his cross country journey with Marvin and Daphne.

Ted's Bad Choice

As "Knight Vision" began, we saw 45 hours still remained until the wedding.

Barney selflessly had his friend's lack of recent lovemaking on his mind as he and Robin issued their collective scouting report on Ted's possible options for a weekend hook up. As great as it always is to see Camp, I don't think the writing gave her much of a shot to be as funny as she has shown she can be on shows such as HBO's True Blood

Marshall, sadly, still has yet to arrive at the wedding, but this week I enjoyed some of the road trip scenes. The one where Daphne pretended to be Lily and Sherri Shepherd's voice played over Alyson Hannigan's lines was pretty funny. Still, I felt bad for little Marvin trying to catch some sleep in the car seat behind them.

The rest of the episode was pure gold. Seeing Lily and Robin dress as each other during the stealing of the How We Met story was positively hilarious. Adding a funny touch of sentimentality later was when Robin and Barney owned up to the truth about how they met, their sexual history and all the sordid details of the love they proudly share.

Unfortunately, the thought of the two of them sinning in the reverend's office was too much for him. But it was proved fortuitous for us because it allowed for the second great movie reference scene of the episode.

Barney: Our minister just died.
Robin: We can still use the church but we only have two days to find a new officiant.
Barney: Unless! Wedding at Bernie's!
Robin: We're not doing wedding at Bernie's! | permalink

Despite issuing that decision a tad hasty, Robin certainly has made a wise choice in Barney and vice versa.

As for Ted, he was right: His poor choice of Cassie ultimately will be a blessing when he finally meets the mother. This week, Ted enjoyed plenty of great stuff, but I really hope we aren't going to have to wait many more episodes for some more mother scenes.

Another How I Met Your Mother episode has come and gone without an appearance of the mother.

The countdown to the wedding continued, but the focus switched to Marshall and Lily, as the road warrior had to call in some favors from his friends to try and keep Lily from reading Daphne's text.

Marshall's Mission

How I Met Your Mother Season 9 Episode 7 started off slow, with the reenactment of the ghost in Room 13 falling flat.

From there, though, we got some pretty good stuff when Ted, Barney and Robin were called into action to settle their debt to Marshall. The flashback of when Robin called Marshall for a favor was my favorite.

The whole Night Falcon scene was so absurd, I had to laugh, as Robin fell into Marshall's arms and ran away in that purple unitard.

Robin ordering room service to Lily's room and sneaking in under the cart was also a great move. Barney's plan to make his way through the air ducts like the bad guy in Die Hard was my favorite strategy, however, as we were reminded about his odd take on movies.

The soon-to-be married couple struggled a bit with their lone wolf identities, but came to the realization that they could work just as well together once married.

Barney: We're gonna make a great team. We just need some practice.
Robin: Yeah let's prove that we believe in marriage by workin together to help Marshall hide something from his wife!

When it came to the actual execution of the mission, Ted calling in a No Questions Asked of his own with Lily, was a great twist. Marshall's flashback to some of the times he could have kept something from Lily was pretty good. My favorite of which was when he took apart the TV and made a robot.

I'm pretty sure there has been at least one time when Marshall has tried to sneak something past Lily, but you had to applaud his honesty tonight as he came clean about taking the new job.

Where I think he could have done better was how he made his confession. He definitely was sorry for taking the job without telling her, but he didn't leave much room for discussion about it. He told Lily they were staying in New York with an "and that's final" kind of tone, didn't he?

Marshall's arrival will surely bring a hate storm down on the Farhamton Inn. Maybe Uncle Ted will take Marvin for a stroll while Mommy and Daddy sort things out and perhaps run into the mother when he does.

At the onset of How I Met Your Mother Season 9 Episode 8, Robin sparkled, showing up to breakfast wearing Loretta Stinson's cherished blouse.

As the subject of scrambled eggs came up, Robin hilariously soiled the blouse with ketchup and syrup, but the moment she referenced her rarely mentioned mother, you could tell she was struggling to find a leg to stand on.

Lily was right, a happy wife makes for a happy life, but could you really fault Barney for loving his mother's cooking? Especially after the way he described the way her eggs made him feel?

Oh my god. I'm eight years old again and life is perfect and I haven't peed my shorts in front of 350 Webelos at the Pine Wood Derby Regionals in Wheeling, West Virginia.

Barney
The Lighthouse Date

Robin eventually admitted she was no top chef, but it was Loretta who ended up with egg on her face when she made a gibe about the prospects of Robin cooking for her children some day.

The flashback to the night Robin told Barney she couldn't have children was a great scene. Was it weird his first impulse was to hug her? No way. It was a touching moment in their relationship, we had not seen before. It also made for nice closure later when Loretta hugged Robin and told her to call her Mom after Barney expressed his reasons for marrying Robin.

As for the other mother at breakfast, Lily sat down at the table drink in hand, signaling that Linus was back on call.

Yes I'm in a rotten mood. No I don't want to talk about it. Yes this has booze in it. No it's not my first.

Lily

As Lily decimated the hotel's supply of glasses, she thankfully didn't spill a drop on that grey dress, in which she looked amazing. If Marshall could have seen her, he might have said the hell with being a judge just to appease her. Marshall, of course, was not there, but instead spent the night at Ted's mom's house while waiting out a storm.

Finally we heard Marvin cry! It's not that I liked hearing his screams, but all ride long, Marshall and Daphne have been yelling without any regard for or the slightest reaction from the back seat.

However, Clint snapping his guitar to pieces - inches from the little guy's rear facing car seat - was a bit much for me. Marshall should have gone nuclear right then and dragged the self help stowaway out of the truck.

Back in Farhamton, Ted was fed some bad advice by a good and buzzed Lily. I can't imagine many men would complain about having to carry Anna Camp up a set of stairs, but it was clear she was not right for Ted. Luckily for us, Ted decided he hadn't run out of lighthouses and we were treated to the moment he proposed to the mother.

I have been complaining about the lack of any scenes featuring her in recent weeks, but tonight's final moment made the wait worth it.

The pace at which we are progressing toward the wedding is still irksome, but there is plenty to look forward to aside from the big ceremony. Top of my list is how Lily will receive Marshall when he finally arrives.

How I Met Your Mother Review: Chall-ng Acc-pt-d

As we checked back in with the crew at the Farhampton Inn, 31 hours before the wedding, Barney and the others tried to cheer up an emotional Robin.

Sighting his perfect record, Barney accepted the challenge of turning his bride to be's frown upside down.

The Friendship Question

When Lily took exception to Barney's claim, How I Met Your Mother Season 9 Episode 9 turned back the clock six months to a night Barney took on an onslaught of challenges and Ted tried to convince Marshall he was over Robin.

Lily always has her relationship radar on when it comes to Ted and Robin, so after seeing their little inside joke resurrected, she engaged Ted in a painfully funny game of footsie. Barney's shins were next to feel her wrath after his comment about Robin and Marshall.

Barney: Truth is, I only know of one truly platonic relationship.
Lily: You and me.
Barney: Don't make me laugh Lily. You want to hit this so hard.

For all the challenges Barney has accepted over the years, Lily accurately noted how they almost always play to his strengths.

Watching Barney take on everything she and Robin could throw at him was one of the more entertaining segments of How I Met Your Mother Season 9. None made me laugh harder than when he had to get a girl's number while wearing a garbage bag and refraining from using the letter E.

Ted and Marshall, meanwhile, had a pretty serious conversation at the Harlem Globetrotters game. Having them cheering for The Generals was a great twist, keeping the scenes from getting too serious. It was so nice to see Marshall anywhere but on the road with Daphne. Watching him ride the refs at the game was a real treat.

The episode would have been fine story wise if Ted didn't get offered the job in Chicago. Getting to see Bryan Cranston scream threats through the phone, though, made that void left by the series finale of Breaking Bad feel a tad less cavernous.

The show continued its crawl toward the wedding day, but we did get some more mother scenes. She completely unnerved Barney with her reaction when he tried to hit on her. Then he got some pretty solid advice.

Do you want to keep playing or do you want to win?

The Mother

While the usually impulsive Ted bided his time, Barney took action and ended up getting the girl. It still remains to be seen, however, what Ted is planning to do, as it seems almost certain he will tell Robin one last time how he feels.

What do you think?

Only 31 hours remain until Barney marries Robin.

And with the time ticking down, Barney and company tried to cheer up the emotional bride-to-be on How I Met Your Mother Season 9 Episode 9.

Lily, meanwhile, went all footsie on Ted after seeing his inside joke with Robin resurrected and Barney tried to get a girl's number… while wearing a garbage bag… and not using the letter E. At all.

Yes, shenanigans ruled the day, as did a few more scenes with the titular mother.

The How I Met Your Mother spinoff is moving from rumor to reality.

CBS ordered this sitcom to pilot yesterday, confirming talk from earlier this month that creator Carter Bays was in talks to create a new series very similar to the one that's coming to an end this spring, only with the gender of the title character flipped.

Barney's Bachelor Party

CBS is referring to HIMYD as a "“kindred spirit" to How I Met Your Mother, with the new series telling its tale from a female point of view.

It will feature new character and Bays Tweeted last night that they will NOT be introducer on the How I Met Your Mother Season 9 finale.

“This will be its own, totally new show," he wrote.

How I Met Your Mother Review: Zabka-Tage

Family ties were tested this week, as both Barney and James's fathers arrived at the wedding.

How I Met Your Mother Season 9 Episode 10 also marked the return of Detective Mosby when Ted set out to find who tried to frame him.

Tracking Down the Culprit

Barney lost touch with reality a bit as he sought to reunite his parents, but in typical fashion didn't let a little thing like his father being married dissuade him.

Like he has on many an occasion, Barney enlisted the help of his trusted driver Ranjit to help hatch his plan. Ranjit never fails to deliver some laughs when he answers the call of his long-time friend.

Detective Mosby has a few cold cases to his name, but was resolute in his pursuit to find the ink-spilling culprit. I loved the addition of the Beastie Boys to the episode's soundtrack in the scene where Ted uncovered the Zabka-tage, capped off by Lily's second tackle of the weekend.

Marshall and Daphne's wild ride finally came to a close, but not before Sherri Shepherd delivered her best scene of How I Met Your Mother Season 9.

Kids, they don't understand logic, kids understand who shows up. That's why her dad's her hero and I get hung up on.

Daphne

The speech Daphne's daughter gave was hilarious and touching, but my favorite moment from that arc this week was seeing little Marvin at the wheel during The Proclaimers montage.

Overall, the best moment had to be Billy Zabka recounting a lifetime marked as a bad guy.

Twenty-five years of getting crane kicked in the nuts.

Billy Zabka

This time he actually was the villain, but showed some class when he told Ted "You're alright, Mosby" just like he did in 1984 with Daniel LaRusso in the final scene of The Karate Kid.

This storyline on its own was reason enough for me to rank tonight's episode as one of the season's best.

Barney and James' fathers both showed up on How I Met Your Mother this week, as the CBS sitcom also brought back Detective Mosby when Ted set on a mission to discover who framed him.

It was a strong installment overall, highlighted by the Beastie Boys playing in the background when Ted went to work.

Marshall and Daphne's crazy ride also came to an end finally, while the most memorable moment went to Billy Zabka recounting a lifetime marked as a bad guy.

Marshall and little Marvin boarded a bus and got back on the road, to kick off the latest How I Met Your Mother episode.

To keep his son's temper from climbing, Marshall spent the entire half hour flashing back while rhyming.

Marshall's first tale was about Ted the professor who - when asked out by an attractive colleague - did his best to impress her. The writers may catch some heat for their softball player generalization, but Ted having to know which Yankee she dated was an accurate response to the situation.

Bedtime Stories Scene

It ended up Ted's dinner was on the right side of the meridian, but his bubble burst when he learned Barney had already been with the sexy Floridian.

So many great things about this girl. Her boobs, her rack, her chest.

Barney

James Van Der Beek made a surprise appearance on How I Met Your Mother Season 9 Episode 11.

Watching Robin take a bite out of his wedding cake looked like buttercream heaven. As she finished off everything save for the little groom and bride in her gown, I couldn't believe she didn't have some milk to help her wash it all down.

Elsewhere, we learned about Barney and his League of Players and he accepted yet another challenge in the face of naysayers.

Barney was in usual form, his jokes numerous and witty. None were better than when he anointed himself the Player King of New York City. Ted took his advice and got over his gripe with King James. He did so in time to get the girl at the bar and beat Barney in one of hisown games.

The most impressive rhyme of the night came from the bus, when a pairing for Canada was thought up and delivered by the guy across the aisle named Gus. It was nice to get a break from the events at the Farhampton Inn; getting to see the gang together in their booth telling stories, was a definite win.

For some, tonight's rhyme-fest may have produced a yawn. But it reminded me of those beloved seasons that have already come and gone.

This was a very strong installment of How I Met Your Mother.

For starters, it featured an unexpected appearance by James Van Der Beek. It also gave us a little break from the Farhampton Inn, as Marshall and Marvin got on a bus and got back on the road, with the latter spending more of the half hour rhyming in order to keep his son calm.

Robin standing over a handcuffed Barney may not have been a shock if it was their honeymoon, but with 22 hours to go until the wedding, Barney certainly had some explaining to do. Robin had every right to be upset as How I Met Your Mother Season 9 Episode 12 got underway, as she was missing her rehearsal dinner.

HIMYM Gang

While I feel like most brides look forward to eating at their wedding receptions, Robin has never been one to deny herself anything has she? That said, she is not above compromise, as we saw when her idea of a Canadian wedding was repeatedly mocked with a slew of jokes about her native land.

Robin: Take a good look at this face Barney OK? Cause it will be useful for the future. This is my pretty mad face.
Barney: Well then we've got a problem, cause it looks a lot like your pretty hungry face.
Robin: I'm missing the bacon wrapped figs!

One thing Barney and Robin did agree on was allowing Ted to play piano at the dinner, so long as he tickled the keys dressed as Liberace. We got to see him playing briefly in the last scene, but his attempt at figure skating was a far better gift.

Speaking of gifts, cute as the suitcase of puppies was, Barney's attempt to get back at Robin was a bad idea, even by Stinson standards. He more than made up for it though, when he unveiled his laser tag ruse. As awesome as an Off Road arcade game with unlimited turbos would have been, bringing Canada to Robin complete with Alan Thicke and Labatt Blue was far more legendary.

For those who may have scoffed at the entire deception, remember this is Barney Stinson we are talking about. If anyone could pull that surprise off, it was him.

Marshall was absent from the episode, but we were reminded about the impact of his decision to take the new job, when Lily opened up to Ted and Robin. Ted showed his support as always, but even more telling of the bond these friends share, was Robin putting aside her issue to be there for Lily.

Robin: I'm sorry I don't have time for your drama right now, my fiancé is missing.
Lily: Marshall got picked to be a judge. He took the job without even asking me. Italy's off.
Robin: I have time for your drama.

The reviews of How I Met Your Mother Season 9 have been widely mixed, but we can't lose sight of how far we have come with these characters and how much they mean to each other and us as fans. I am just as anxious to see the wedding and Ted meet the mother as anyone, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy the ride leading up to such pinnacle moments. What do you the rest of you mother minions think?

On their honeymoon, or even a typical episode of How I Met Your Mother, Robin standing over a handcuffed Barney may not have come as such a shock.

How I Met Your Mother Season 9 Episode 12 centered around the couple's rehearsal dinner, however, so suffice it to say he had plenty of explaining to do.

Of course, Robin didn't find Barney handcuffed to a bed or a woman under shady circumstances, things that would've been par for the course years ago.

He was merely in the security office of a laser tag place. Obviously.

It all turned out to be a surprise rehearsal dinner in the future bride's honor as Barney did his best to bring Canada to Robin. Not a bad stunt there, eh?

Not only did Marshall finally make it to the wedding, but he did so with some help from the mother.

Was it me, or did anyone else think she was driving a little fast? Either that or it was some pretty reckless parenting by Marshall, walking along the side of a road where cars were traveling that quickly.

Causing Trouble

Well, reality is usually suspended to some degree when it comes to this show and How I Met Your Mother Season 9 Episode 13, was no exception, especially when Lily and Robin began communicating telepathically.

Stuff like that is usually reserved for Barney, but it worked well to depict just how meddlesome Darren and his Disney-themed tales of woe could be.

Andrew Rannells did a nice job issuing those "emotional prostate exams," as the mother called them. His smile really matched the flames in his eyes, didn't it? Darren no doubt stirred the pot, but he also brought about two of the better moments of the episode. The first came as Lily and Robin argued.

I don't need objectivity. You're my best friend, I just need your support.

Lily

Robin, of course, never was really on Marshall's side. She just didn't want to lose her best friend, even if only for a year. The other scene came after Barney learned about Ted's plan to move to Chicago.

Chicago? Is that even a real place?

Barney

I loved Barney's reaction to Ted trying to bring up Marshall's name, when he accused Ted of throwing away 10 years of being best friends. With all kidding aside, Barney quickly realized just why Ted needed a fresh start and gave up arguing right away.

Both were the kind of scenes that illustrate the bond these characters have forged, but for me, the best moment of the episode went to Marshall and Lily.

Despite having every reason in the world to come out guns blazing, Lily showed once again why they are one of television's best couples, as she initiated the "pause" to their issues and embraced her family.

The mother's scenes were good. She had me thinking of Large Marge from Pee Wee's Big Adventure with the way she was freaking out Marshall in the van. After revealing how she knew so much about him, I thought their chemistry was great. They had the band thing in common, as well as their tendency to both be too nice.

Marshall gave her some good advice just like he has done on many an occasion with Ted.

At the inn, I loved how she opted for Linus's Kennedy Package like Lily did. I also liked how she wanted to buy whoever punched Darren a drink, even if  it was a little out of character for Ted. Was it clear that Ted knew who Darren really was when he punched him, or was it more because he let slip his Chicago secret to Barney?

I thought there were two missed opportunities for a Barney montage. It would have been funny to see all the times Barney has been cited for urinating in public. The other chance for a series of flashbacks could have shown how liberal Barney has been with the phrase "that's the dream." As an aside, Dump Day sounded like an awful idea if you ask me.

All in all, I thought it was a good installment. Marshall finally made it to the inn and we got some solid scenes with the mother. What did you think?
